Hospitality Team

This group is just as the name implies. We make certain that everyone coming in to Faith United is greeted and made to feel welcome. Hospitality is broad, but intentionally so! From making sure the facility feels warm and welcoming to special events meant to make the church family and wider community feel the love of Christ is part of our mission. The 3 ministry teams aren’t about having meetings, but finding meaning in our actions.

We host several special projects throughout the year. If you have interest in helping with any of these events or being part of the overall team, we encourage you to contact the church office or Lay Minister Linda Keiper.

“Birthday Sunday” is following worship on the last Sunday of each month and is a chance for the Hospitality Ministry team to serve cake and other refreshments to celebrate that month’s birthdays.

Cowboy Sunday is a favorite service where everyone comes in their cowboy duds and enjoy listening to Vaughn Duncan and Bill Potter—two well-known local gentlemen cowboy poets and musicians. A lunch fit for a cowboy is served after the service.

Teacher and Staff Appreciation Supper is a huge project…hosting the entire teaching and support staff of Gibbon Public Schools for a supper, gifts, and supplies for their classrooms each fall. Lots of handmade gifts sporting school colors are given as door prizes, and everyone’s families are included in the supper and festivities.

We are instrumental in See You at the Pole, a nationwide effort each September where students, faculty and the community can gather before school for a brief prayer service. The Hospitality team also provides rolls for breakfast.  It gets bigger every year!

Confirmation Banquet is held each spring for all Confirmation students, their families and the whole church. It gives the Confirmation students’ families a chance to celebrate with everyone while the three ministry teams take care of the dinner. It is a celebration for the entire church family!

BUS KIDS is another new project of the Hospitality Ministry team serving a meal to kids and families on Thursday afternoons. It has grown from serving 15-20 students to 35-40 students each week.

Hospitality Ministry Serves cookies and beverages during a funeral visitation and before a funeral service as an expression of care and concern for the family.

And this just scratches the surface! It’s clear to see Hospitality Ministry is a busy team and one that welcomes anyone who would like to be a team member! As a team, we know that we don’t HAVE to do anything…but we GET to do a lot for Christ and the community! Come join us!!
